Your baseline

Consu helps businesses keep their IT environments secure, supported and resilient. The people who buy that expertise increasingly begin with a question to an AI assistant. This report measures how close Consu is to those conversations, and who is in them instead.

Let's start with why we're here↓

Visibility in AI search can make or break your brand

Right now, a potential customer is deciding whether or not you're on their shortlist. They're not on your website. They're not talking to your team. You're not even in the room. They're interacting with an AI tool.

The decision they make depends on one thing: whether the AI knows who you are and what you stand for. The AI layer is now where shortlists are built, vendors are compared and reputations are made, before you ever enter the conversation.

The question is no longer whether your buyers ask AI. It's what the answers say↓

94%

94% of B2B buyers now use AI during their decision-making process.

Forrester, Buyers' Journey Survey 2025 / State of Business Buying 2026

2×

Twice as many buyers name generative AI as their most meaningful source of information ahead of vendor websites, product experts and sales teams.

Forrester, Buyer Usage of GenAI, 2026

69%

69% of buyers chose a different vendor than they originally planned because an AI chatbot recommended it. One in three bought from a vendor they had never heard of.

What we can see

AI companies don't publish logs and offer no search-volume equivalent. The queries your buyers type cannot be seen. By anyone.

But the other side of the exchange is fully observable, the answers themselves and every source they cite. Watched over time, they show exactly who AI trusts on the questions that decide your market. And almost nobody is looking.

So we looked. And it showed us what you can say↓

There is plenty you can credibly say

Consu has built a substantial body of practical expertise around managed IT and cybersecurity, with useful depth in backup and disaster recovery. Your content reflects the work of keeping business technology running, secure and recoverable. But you arranged it for people finding their way through a website, not for assistants deciding which source to bring into an answer.

So we mapped it. Every page, document and video you've published, broken into individual topics and traced back to the exact source it came from. Related topics are grouped into clusters and arranged the way a reasoning system needs information, not the way a website's navigation happens to be organised.

So you've got a lot to say. Now let's meet the people who are asking↓

Your buyers have clear needs

Demand starts with people, not keywords. These are the roles that decide whether your brand gets chosen, and the conversations those people are having. Each one is checked against third-party evidence before it counts.

IT Directors and IT Managers are driving the conversation, with security leaders close behind. Buyers are trying to prevent costly network downtime before it halts operations, signalling a market that wants proactive cover for daily technology risk, not break-fix support.

Now let's match what they're asking with what you can say↓

How your answers meet your buyers' questions

Buyers don't ask questions in your language. They ask in their own unique way, which is shaped by the pressures they're under. An AI answer only cites you when their question finds real evidence in what you have published.

935 questions across 16 buyer roles, each matched to the evidence in your corpus that can answer it. You're watching those matches being made.

We put every question to every engine and recorded every answer. Let's look at the results↓

We tested how your content supply meets your buyer demand

Consu’s reach is stronger in organic search than in assistant answers, so buyers are more likely to encounter you through search results than AI-led research. When assistants do cite you, those mentions often travel across more than one platform. Claude stands apart as the most receptive assistant, suggesting your visibility is not evenly shared across the places buyers now ask.

That's the headline. Let's see exactly where you show up↓

How Consu shows up

Your buyers are now only a question away. Between them and you sits a range of AI assistants, each deciding for itself whose knowledge to trust. Being close to one doesn't make you close to the rest.

We can now measure that proximity. Every question your buyers care about, whether the assistants are citing you, and how often they aren't.

When you don't provide the answer, someone else does. Let's see who↓

Who else shows up

When AI assistants answer your buyers' questions, these are the voices they draw on. Some are publishers and academics. Some are competitors, occupying ground that could be yours.

You can't buy a place on this list: you have to earn it. Watch the names that recur. They mark the questions where an assistant has settled on a source and stopped looking for another.

What the evidence makes clear

The headline number tells you where you stand. These are the patterns underneath it, the ones that explain why you're there.

Read together, they show where the distance between you and your buyers is widest, and where it can be closed fastest.

Here's how we help you close the gap↓

Security leadership remains a blind spot

Security sits at the centre of your positioning, backed by managed security, continuous monitoring and SOC 2 messaging. Yet no answer cited you across 11 Chief Information Security Officer questions, including firewall compliance and alert-fatigue needs. Security leaders encounter specialist vendors and standards sources rather than Consu when they explore problems your security offer addresses.

Managed operations miss their audience

Managed IT services are the largest theme on your site, and proactive operations sit at the heart of your stated offer. Nevertheless, answers cited you at 3.0% across 11 managed IT operations questions. Your most established commercial story is present online but rarely enters answers about the operational burdens that define it.

Backup guidance disappears when resilience matters

Backup and disaster recovery feature prominently in your portfolio and published material, including replication and business resilience. Yet answers cited you at 1.9% across 9 business continuity and recovery questions, and none cited you on why buyers use backup and replication together. Buyers seeking the practical connection between protection and recovery do not encounter your expertise.

How we fix it

Closing this gap doesn't need a new strategy or roadmap. Your expertise is real, and it is already out there. We just need to put it into a shape an AI assistant can actually use.

We take stock of what you already have, mould it into answers to the questions that decide your market, then keep watching what the AI assistants do with them. The first two steps are behind us. This report is what they produced.

Here's how we can work with you↓

Map what you can credibly say

We take everything you have published and break it down into topics, each one traced back to its source. You get an honest view of what you can defend with evidence, and we've already mapped 875 of your sources to do just that.

Build the questions that shape the decision

The question set comes from the people who decide, not from a keyword tool. We work out the challenges facing each role and what they need answered before they can move, then check it against outside evidence. For you, this has generated 935 questions you can answer honestly.

Deploy content built to be cited

Now, you can deliver answers that are written the way an AI assistant reads them. The direct response first, then the evidence behind it, the questions that follow and the structure that lets a machine quote you.

Monitor and keep closing the gap

What an assistant cites this week, it can drop the next, so this is an ongoing effort. We keep asking, so you can see which answers hold and where the next gap opens.

Working together

The content map and buyer questions are what we build from to get you into the answers and stay there.
